“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake shook Haiti. More than 150,000 people died and the quake leveled the capitol of Port-au-Prince.

Dawn Goodwin, an American missionary ministering to Haitians 17 years, immediately became an interpreter for the army of aid workers that came to Haiti. "Hardly anyone here speaks Creole," said Dawn. "We're able to help the doctors understand what exactly is wrong with the patient, so they can give the treatment the patient needs."
Dawn often worked around the clock because of the lack of translators.  She said the sweetest moments at the clinic for her are times of praying for patients or singing songs of comfort.  "I was praying with someone the other day and just started blubbering," said Goodwin. "I'm grieving, too. I've lost friends. I have friends living on the street. Ministering to my people has been helpful. It's helped my healing process.

During the worst of times, we can look to Jesus Christ and have comfort in Him. Today in prayer, give thanks to the Christ, that He is Lord of all, and seek comfort in Him so you may comfort others in Christ.

“It will greatly comfort you if you can see God’s hand in both your losses and your crosses.” – Charles H. Spurgeon
